I chose to spend my short time in Vietnam exclusively in Ha Long Bay, specifically on this 22 cabin cruise ship, Stellar of the Seas.

I booked an Executive Suite through the Chase Travel Portal for ~55,000 Ultimate Rewards.  If paying cash, the same room would have cost over $800 for two nights!

I was particularly happy with my choice and that Chase points allowed me to splurge, because I was able to take in the stunning views from the privacy and comfort of my own cabin.

On deck, there was a pool with equally great views, but unfortunately wasn't heated.  Our first day was overcast and way too cold to warrant a dip.

Our first day was very overcast, but I found that it provided a unique perspective to the seemingly endless stretch of limestone islands into the distance.

Thankfully the weather cleared up in time for a ride traditional wooden boat ride trough a natural tunnel...

And a visit to a local fishing commune inside the Cat Ba national park.

With local seafood like scallops and crab being featured on the menu, it was a treat to see one up close and personal on our beach day.

No need to bring beer from the minibar; shortly after arriving at the beach, local traders arrive.  Make sure you're ready to haggle, as it will make the difference as to whether your beers are over or under $1!

On our last night, while relaxing on the top deck, we were rewarded with a spectacular sunrise that I won't soon forget.
