How I booked a $29,000 Around the World ticket for under $250!

I've long dreamed to fly "around the world" and so can you!

Whether you're experienced in the world of points/miles or just beginning, bookings like these can be a daunting task.  Contact me below or at wheelsupwithpoints@gmail.com to discuss strategic consulting to optimize your points/miles strategy to meet your specific goals as well as full service award redemption options to help you book your dream vacation.

And if you're curious to see how I booked my around the world adventure keep reading!

Clocking in at over 27,000 miles flown, I was able to connect an itinerary on Qatar (booked with American Airlines AAdvantage miles) with an itinerary on Cathay Pacific (booked with Alaska Airlines MileagePlan miles) and added on some additional flights within Asia to explore Vietnam and Cambodia.

For the same price as an award flight from JFK to Doha, I was able to fly all the way to Johannesburg.  With the return, I was able to start this itinerary in Johannesburg, for the same price as an award ticket from Hong Kong to JFK.  If booked with cash, this itinerary would have cost me $29,209 but using points, I only paid $240.63 out of pocket.

The breakdown:

70,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles

70,000 Alaska MileagePlan miles (open jaw itinerary with below HKG-JFK)

16,000 American Express Membership Rewards points

10,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points

25,000 American Express Membership Rewards points

70,000 Alaska Airlines MilegePlan miles (open jaw itinerary with above JNB-HKG)
