This flight included a couple firsts for me:  first time flying Japan Airlines and first time flying a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. 


This variant of the 787 was equipped with JAL's shell flat seat which is actually an angle-flat seat.  That said, since this flight was a sub-4 hour daytime flight, it didn't matter much.  The real bonus was that the seat next to me remained empty, since there is virtually no privacy with these seats.

 One very cool feature about the Dreamliners is their huge windows!

And even cooler is the electrochromic glass that dims at the touch of a button, with 5 varying levels.

For my meal, I planned to pick from the Japanese menu...when in Rome.

But to my surprise, there was no choice, they just brought a sampling of everything!

And with barely enough time to watch a movie, we were already touching down at Tokyo's Narita airport.
